Review of My Neighbors The Yamadas:
My Neighbors The Yamadas is a film with many messages. It's presented through several lighthearted stories that relate to everyday family life. The story is presented systematically from marriage, having children, and some problems that arise in the family. The introduction of each character is done very well at the beginning of the film.
Unlike other Studio Ghibli films,
this film has a unique and aesthetic style, different from other traditional
anime styles. The simple visuals focus on each character. The soft and warm
coloring creates a warm atmosphere within the family and the story is conveyed
well to the audience. The choice of music and songs is also quite interesting.
Overall, this film is perfect for
watching with family with its lighthearted yet meaningful story. There are many
messages that we can take away and use as lessons to apply in our daily lives.
Each character plays a role that supports each other.
Memorable Scene:
Nonoko's family is on a trip and doesn't realize that Nonoko is left behind at the supermarket. However, Nonoko, who is only 7 years old, doesn't panic. Instead, she helps a little child who has lost her mother. Nonoko takes the child to the information center to find her mother. While Nonoko calmly says that she has lost her entire family.
From this scene, we can see that
teaching a child not to panic and to think clearly is important. It's clear
that Nonoko knows what to do in that situation.
Memorable Dialogue:
"Acceptance is the only way out of totally unacceptable situations."
Ending:
Happy Ending
