Synopsis:

Luna (Shareefa Danish) has been close friends with Desta (Herjunot Ali), Abi (Radhit Syaharzam), and Bobo (Denny Aditya WS) since middle school. They attend the same university, although Luna studies a different major. Despite this, their friendship remains strong. Luna's slightly tomboyish nature makes her easy to get along with.

Desta is smitten with Angel (Davina Veronica), the most popular girl on campus. His friends are skeptical, but Desta believes he can win her heart, even though he repeatedly receives negative responses from Angel. Till One day, Desta is assigned a group project with Angel and her friends.

Angel knows about Desta's feelings and uses them to her advantage. She manipulates Desta to complete the project, feigning reciprocated feelings. This causes Desta to neglect his friendship with Luna, Abi, and Bobo.

Luna, Abi, and Bobo notice the change in Desta. He starts ignoring them and breaking promises. Even on a special occasion when Luna wants to treat them to dinner with her first paycheck, Desta doesn't show up. Luna is the most hurt, as she has been harboring her feelings for him.

Will Desta realize Luna's feelings for him?

Review:

Lovely Luna is adapted from Upi's novel of the same name. The story explores the simple and relatable themes of love and friendship, common experiences for teenagers. It is presented well and is easy to watch.

The film shouldn't be rated below 7, as it's not as bad as its score suggests. The storyline is clear, with well-developed characters, backgrounds, conflicts, and resolutions. There are some entertaining scenes that make the film engaging. However, it's not without flaws.

The acting is natural, and the chemistry between the actors is good. The soundtrack and sound effects are appropriate for each scene. The cinematography is decent, although the ending scene is slightly distracting with props obscuring Luna's face.

A potential weakness is the presence of some supporting characters or extras whose purpose is unclear. They appear without a defined function, simply existing in the background. Some dialogue placement could also be improved. However, removing these elements wouldn't significantly alter the film's essence.

Overall, the film is enjoyable and a good choice for those seeking a lighthearted watch. The compelling story makes it worth rewatching.

Memorable Scene:

Luna, who has long harbored feelings for Desta, finally breaks down in tears, witnessed by Abi and Bobo. They realize that Luna, despite her tomboyish exterior, has a tender heart. They try to comfort her and help her win Desta's affections.

This scene highlights the difficulty of expressing love within a friendship. Many people hide their feelings, fearing the potential damage to the bond, especially when the male friend doesn't see them as a romantic option.

Memorable Dialogue:

"Whoever ends up being your boyfriend will be lucky."

Ending:

Happy Ending

Recommendation:

Must Watch
