Synopsis:
Cinta (Dian Sastrowardoyo) is a student who loves art and poetry. She and her friends, Alya, Carmen, Maura, and Milly, are tasked with managing the school's bulletin board. At the time, the school is holding a poetry competition, and Cinta naturally participates. Her friends predict that she will win. However, the results are unexpected.
Rangga (Nicholas Saputra) is unaware that he has won the poetry competition. He never intended to enter. It turns out that Mang Diman, the school caretaker, submitted Rangga's poem without his knowledge. This piques Cinta's curiosity about Rangga, who is absent during the announcement of the winner.
Cinta attempts to interview Rangga for the school bulletin board. However, he is not receptive. Cinta is annoyed by this and resolves to avoid him. But her curiosity about Rangga persists.
Their interactions continue, sometimes pleasant, sometimes leading to arguments. Cinta hides these encounters from her friends, except for Alya, who knows the secret.
Alya's family is experiencing difficulties, and she needs Cinta's support. Unaware of Alya's situation, Cinta lies to cover up her date with Rangga. This proves to be a fatal mistake, jeopardizing their friendship.
Will Cinta's feelings for Rangga destroy
everything?
Review:
Ada Apa dengan Cinta? is a film with a light-hearted theme, focusing on the romance that unfolds during school days. What makes it memorable is the makeup and clothing, which authentically reflect the typical style of high school students, avoiding any forced attempts at maturity. The film presents a sweet romance appropriate for their age, not forced to appear more mature.
The story development is excellent. The characters' backgrounds are well-established. The conflicts are well-built and believable. The resolution is also well-handled, although the way Cinta manages to enter the airport might seem a bit far-fetched.
The acting, both from the main and supporting cast, is commendable. The interactions and performances feel natural. The dialogue, while using some slang, is still presented artistically.
Overall, the film is well-presented and
suitable for those who enjoy romantic stories. It is timeless, not feeling
outdated even today. It remains a legendary film from its era.
Memorable Scene:
During a date with Rangga at a café, Cinta is suddenly asked to sing. Instead, she chooses to perform a musical interpretation of Rangga's poem. This surprises and impresses Rangga.
This scene highlights how poetry can be
presented in different forms, adding a new layer of meaning. Through poetry, we
can gain deeper insights into the creator's thoughts.
Memorable Dialogue:
"Since I met you, I've become a different person."
Ending:
Happy Ending
Recommendation:
Must Watch
