Synopsis of I Missed You:

Chin Chin (Eve Ai), who works as a Data Analyst at a Game company, has to quickly analyze data for a new game they are releasing. The game is a psychological game related to love. This brings back memories of her past love, making her skeptical about love.

Chin Chin is known for being cold and a workaholic. She tries to appear strong to cover up her past trauma and wounds. Chin Chin blocked all communication for two people from her past, namely Nan Chih Yang (Wu Kang Ren), her stepbrother, and Chao Su Wei (Fu Meng Bao), her best friend and also the man she loved.

Suddenly, Chin Chin receives a package from Nan Chih Yang, where Nan Chih Yang feels like he doesn't have long to live and sends his tablet to Chin Chin, which contains his last message. Chin Chin, seeing the video on the tablet, starts to waver and finally decides to meet Chih Yang. Chin Chin also accidentally meets Chih Yang's ex-wife and finally learns how Chih Yang has been living all this time.

Chin Chin tries to open her heart again to accept Chih Yang into her life. When Chin Chin wants to unblock Chih Yang's Facebook account, she realizes that she has also cut off contact with Su Wei. Chin Chin tries to unblock Su Wei and find out what Su Wei is doing now. Seeing the posts on Su Wei's account, some memories flash through her mind. And a bitter reality and regret begin to creep to the surface.

Review of I Missed You:

I Missed You raises a theme that is quite relevant in life. Especially for workers in the 30-40 age range who are busy with their careers and start to feel emptiness in their lives. Many questions arise that may be related to the past.

Also, the story that is raised, we may have done it before. Especially when we feel hurt by someone, we often choose to break off the relationship and block all access to communication with that person. Through this film, we get a valuable lesson where it turns out that this can lead to regret in the future.

The choice of music is quite good, even the Original Song used won the Best Original Film Song award in 2021 at the Golden Horse Awards. The storyline presented is quite systematic, even though it uses a backward-forward flow. The story is presented with an interesting play of emotions. There are scenes that are quite entertaining, on the other hand, it also brings tears and is deeply meaningful.

Each character is also quite interesting. Chin Chin, who is very different from Chih Yang, but somehow has something similar in their characters. They both harbor regrets in their lives. They are interconnected and influence each other. The development of both characters is also quite noticeable from the beginning to the end of the story.

The acting of the actors is quite good, although Eve Ai is still considered less than optimal, especially in facial expressions. The character of Chin Chin wants to be portrayed as a cold character, but the expressions shown are not strong enough and feel half-hearted. However, it can be said to be quite good considering this is Eve Ai's debut in the film world, who is known as a singer-songwriter.

This film is a light romance film with a deep message. Viewers are reminded to be able to love themselves by not being afraid to acknowledge mistakes and lowering the ego we have. In addition, we are taught to be able to appreciate every person in our lives. Even if we decide to leave their lives, do it the right way so that there are no regrets later.

Memorable Scene:

#spoiler. Chin Chin cries after learning the fact that has been hidden all this time due to her ego, which is the news of the death of Chao Shu Wei, the friend she has loved all this time. Chin Chin has cut off contact and communication with Chao Shu Wei for five years without knowing the real facts.

In this scene, we can see how much regret Chin Chin feels after learning the news. Eve Ai successfully shows quite deep emotions in that scene and portrays the feelings experienced by the character Chin Chin with the appropriate capacity.
